PURPOSE:To provide the catalyst enhanced in NOx purifying capacity under an oxygen excessive atmosphere wherein the activity of a conventional catalyst is not developed and capable of purifying NOx in exhaust gas within a wide temp. range from low temp. to high temp. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst for purifying exhaust gas is a multi-component type composite oxide catalyst containing palladium, molybdenum, nickel and aluminum represented by the general formula PdaMobNicAldOg (wherein a is the wt.% of palladium and 0.01-5, b, c and d are atomic ratios of respective elements, c is 0.1-11 and d is 30-200 at the time of b=10 and g is the number of oxygen atoms necessary for satisfying the valencies of respective components). Further, this multi-component type composite oxide catalyst containing palladium, molybdenum, nickel and aluminum is supported on a catalyst carrier as a coating layer. |
