PURPOSE:To provide a stereoscopic video display device in which the light beam from a light source is efficiently used and the luminance of a display screen is high. CONSTITUTION:The device consists of a light source 141, a barrier substrate 16 in which an opening section 16a that transmits the light beam from the source and a barrier section 16b that shields the light beam from the light source are alternatively formed and partially transmits the light beam from the light source and a liquid crystal panel 17 which is placed on the light- emitting side of the substrate 16 and a picture element L for a left eye and a picture element R for a right eye are alternatively formed. The light beam which passes the picture element L of the left eye of the panel 17 and the light beam which passes the picture element L for the left eye of the panel 17 and the light beam which passes the picture element R for the right eye are put into a separated condition and outputted to an observer's side. The section 16b of the substrate 16 is constituted by a reflective film 162 which reflects the light beam from the source 141 to the light source side and a reflective plate 142, which reflects the light beam that is reflected by the film 162 to the opposite side with respect to the substrate of the source 141, is placed. |
