PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector that can prevent a ferrule from being damaged, when it is connected to a connector, and that can reduce optical connection loss. SOLUTION: The ferrule 3A of the optical connector is formed with a plurality of optical fiber positioning holes, extending from a front end face 6 toward the inside and a pair of guide holes 11 for inserting a guide pin. A chamfered part 13 is formed at the edge of the opening on the front end face 6 of the ferrule 3A, forming a part of the guide hole 11. A diameter R of the opening at the end face 6 of the guide hole 11 is desirably designed so as to be 1.0-1.5 mm, when the front end face 6 is ground obliquely at an angle of 8 deg.. In addition, the chamfering angleθof the part 13 is set preferably to 90-150 deg.. Furthermore, the grain size of a filler contained in the ferrule 3A is 20μm or less on the average, and as a result of this the surface of the chamfered part 13 is made comparatively smooth.
