PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single reel tape cartridge capable of dissolving defective releasing of lock between a reel pressure plate and a reel boss. SOLUTION: In the single tape cartridge, a reel 2 winding and housing a tape 3 and a reel lock mechanism locking and holding the reel 2 so that it cannot be rotated at non-use are arranged inside a main body case 1. The reel lock mechanism comprises a reel pressure plate 18 guided and supported by a guide body 17 provided at an inner face of an upper case 1a so as to be able to slide only up and down, a spring 19 energizing the reel pressure plate 18 so as to press downward, upper and lower locking teeth 20, 21 formed at a facing surface of the reel pressure plate 18 and the bottom wall 10 of a reel boss 8. A rib 30 in a direction perpendicular to a linear side part 26a is projected at the linear side part 26a of an almost elliptical boss 26 in engagement with the guide body 17, and tilt of the reel pressure plate 18 is prevented by when the rib 30 comes into contact with the upper case 1a when releasing the lock.
