PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To freely perform transfer between storage devices by only software without using dedicated hardware or special technical knowledge. SOLUTION: A storage management device 10 connected with a plurality of storage area volumes 21, 22, 23 has: a management table 12 storing information for managing the plurality of storage area volumes 21, 22, 23; a unitary management processing part 11 defining files or folders defined in the plurality of storage area volumes 21, 22, 23 as one storage area volume, and individually issuing instructions to the plurality of storage area volumes 21, 22, 23 while using configurations of the plurality of storage area volumes 21, 22, 23 as they are when receiving instructions about the one storage area volume; and a console 13 issuing instructions to the unitary management processing part 11.
