A method and an apparatus for treating malodorous waste gas are provided to remove hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, and volatile organic compound generated from manure factories or public facilities, by using a biofilter. A humidifying unit humidifies the malodorous gas passed by a visible ray/photo-catalytic reactor(7), before introducing the malodorous gas to a biofilter(21). An aerobic tank(13) has fluidized carriers for absorbing and oxidizing water-soluble ammonia from malodorous pollution sources. The absorbed ammonia is contacted with the fluidized carriers, and reduced to nitrogen within an anaerobic tank(14). The aerobic tank and the anaerobic tank constitute a reactor tank(12). The malodorous gas having less ammonia is inputted into the biofilter, and hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, and volatile organic compound contained in the malodorous gas are simultaneously treated in the biofilter. Water is supplied to the biofilter by sprinkling a portion of treated water discharged from a staying tank(16) into the biofilter through a spray(23).
