PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce contrast difference between the upper side and the lower side of a cut line of an upper fringe of a light distribution pattern by a reflection light from the top surface of a shade. SOLUTION: The projection type vehicle lamp for low beam is equipped with a light source 1, a reflector 2 to reflect light from a light source, a shade 3 to shield a part of light from the reflector 2, and a projection lens 4 to project light that is not shielded by the shade 3, and reflects a part of light from the reflector 2 by a top surface 3a1 of the shade 3 and projects reflected light L1' from the top surface 3a1 of the shade 3by a projection lens 4. The top surface 3a1 of the shade 3 is inclined so that the reflection light L1' from the top surface 3a1 of the shade 3 may be irradiated on a position PL1' adjacent to a cut line Pa of the upper fringe of the light distribution pattern P at the upper side than the cut line Pa of the upper fringe of the light distribution pattern P.
