PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oscillation frequency control method and an oscillator capable of accurately adjusting an oscillation frequency that changes according to temperature to a prescribed frequency with high responsiveness. SOLUTION: The oscillation frequency control method is an oscillation frequency control method of the oscillator which can change oscillation frequencies by using a prescribed oscillation frequency control signal, wherein the oscillation frequency and amplitude of an output signal change in dependence upon temperature. The oscillation frequency control method is provided with a process for measuring amplitude, and a process for controlling the oscillation frequency control signal on the basis of the amplitude and changing the oscillation frequency. The oscillator is an oscillator which can change an oscillation frequency by using the prescribed oscillation frequency control signal, wherein the oscillation frequency and the amplitude of an output signal change in dependence upon temperature. The oscillator is provided with an amplitude measuring part for measuring amplitude, and a temperature compensating part for controlling the oscillation frequency control signal on the basis of the amplitude and changing the oscillation frequency.
