PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a color reproducibility in a color image. SOLUTION: A first color signal in a first color space is acquired from an image-data input section 10, and a distance between the acquired first color signal and a color-gamut contour in the first color space is computed by a color-gamut distance computing section 21. Color-conversion characteristics for associating a color signal in the first color space with the color signal in a second color space by a weighting-data generating section 23 are generated by generation conditions different according to the computed distances of the first color signal. The first color signal is converted into the second color signal in the second color space on the basis of the color-conversion characteristics from the weighting-data generating section 23 by a color conversion section 30.
