PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a weld bead inspection device and method capable of detecting a shape of a bead part with high accuracy and of performing an inspection even with a bead of complex shape. SOLUTION: On a first matrix 4 is provided a first matrix estimation interval P1Q1, in which a first matrix estimation curve Z=F1(X) is estimated from sectional profile data. On a second matrix 5 is provided a second matrix estimation interval P2Q2, in which a second matrix estimation curve Z=F2(X) is estimated from sectional profile data. A perpendicular with a positive/negative sign is drawn from each point (X, Z) on the sectional profile to Z=F1(X) and Z=F2(X), to determine a positive boundary point E2 at which the length of the perpendicular with positive sign is increased to a rising threshold value or less and a negative boundary point E1 at which the length of the perpendicular with negative sign is decreased to a rising threshold value or less.
