摘要 PURPOSE:To improve the MTF (modulation transfer function) of recording and reproduction and recording density, by performing the recording so that a recording bit on each track can be overlapped on or brought into contact with the recording bit on an adjacent track in a track width direction by a magnetic field modulation recording method by which overwrite can be performed. CONSTITUTION:Bit width, especially the width in the track width direction is selected at the width equal to or larger than a decided track pitch P by selecting the power of a laser beam, etc., and the recording bits 8 of the adjacent tracks 17 are brought into contact with each other or overlapped on each other. Therefore, the recording bit 8 recorded first is written on the track 17, and the recording bit 8 or the track 17 recorded later is overwritten, and a part between recorded tracks 17 is formed finally in a state where no unrecorded part exists and the tracks are brought into contact with each other. In such a way, it is possible to improve the MTF of the recording and the reproduction and the level of a reproducing signal under a case with the same recording track pitch, and to heighten the recording density.
