<p>PURPOSE:To prevent exhaust gas from cooling a filter in the case where particulate trapped in a particulate filter is burned through electric heat. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical exhaust pipe 11, and a double filter pipe 13 and a double bypass pipe 16 are provided in a filter case 10, and a heat insulating layer 12 is provided between the filter case 10 and the exhaust pipe 11. A ceramics fiber compound material functioning as a filter and a heater 14 for burning particulate are laminated on the inside (the upstream) of the filter pipe 13. A shut-off plate 15 to control the flow of exhaust gas is severally attached to the inlet and outlet sides of the above pipes. A bypass valve 17 is provided in the bypass pipe 16, and opened by an actuator 20 controlled through a controller 21 while electric current is applied to the heater 14.</p> |
