PURPOSE:To extract a high-quality core wire having no directionality by solving the problem of remaining the unnecessary core wire because of unevenness at a pattern contour part concerning the processor for thinning line to thin a binary pattern from the background side for each layer one by one and to convert it to a linear graphic having one picture element width. CONSTITUTION:The edge of an input picture is detected by first and second peripheral point detecting means 102 and 103, at the edge position, it is judged by first and second erase judging means 105 and 107 whether picture elements are erased or not, the picture elements constituting the unevenness of the pattern are selected and erased in advance by the first erase judging means 105 and the remaining picture elements are erased by the second erase judging means 107 so that the pattern can be thinned without remaining any unnecessary core wire. Further, the four linked edges and the eight linked edges are switched and detected by the second peripheral point detecting means 103 so that the pattern can be thinned more uniformly and the high-quality thinned picture can be obtained. |
