A zig zag sewing machine is provided with a member adapted to prevent concatenation between the upper and lower threads at one side of needle displacement, whereby the spacing between stitches is a multiple of the normal stitch length. As shown, the left hand side of the needle-passing slot 8 in the throat plate 2 is provided with a tube 10 which the needle A penetrates in its left hand position, and on which the beak of the rotary hook 3 slides tangentially. It is stated that tube 10 may be replaced by a trough or a blade, and that the blade may be shiftable from an operative to an inoperative position.</p> |
