[Also in Division D1] A mechanism for converting rotary motion into reciprocating motion to guide yarn on to a bobbin, comprises a traversing block 18 slidable along guide rods 15 parallel to the axis of the bobbin, a driven belt 40 having opposite spans parallel to the guide rods 15, and a gripper block 50 that is slidable in the traversing block 18 for alternately gripping the opposite spans of the moving belt 40 to cause the block 18 to be reciprocated. The movement of the gripper block 50, within the traversing block 18, is controlled by a circular cam 60 pivoted eccentrically at 61 so as to have a snap-over movement under the biasing action of a spring 69. The cam 60 is controlled by a bar 77 having a notch 76 into which extends a pin 75 carried by the cam 60. At the instant shown the gripper block is in its left-hand position and the traversing block 18 is carried downwardly by the left-hand span of the belt 40 until the lower end of the bar 77 abuts a lower striker plate 17. The bar 77 is thus displaced to cause the cam 60 to snap-over to its right-hand position and, as a result, the gripper block 50 is moved to the right to grip the right-hand span of the belt 40 and cause the traversing block 18 to be carried upwardly by the belt 40. The upper end of the bar 77 eventually abuts an upper striker plate 16 and the resulting displacement of the bar 77 causes the cam 60 to snap-over to its original left-hand position so moving the gripper block 50 against the left-hand span of the belt 40 to cause the traversing block 18 to be moved downwardly again. As the winding of the bobbin progresses the striker plates 16, 17 are slowly moved towards each other by a screw 30. The screw 30 has its opposite ends threaded in opposite directions and is connected to the striker plates 16, 17 by spring-loaded jaws 32 on the plates 16, 17. |
