<p>An all-plastic filter assembly (250) for filtering fluids includes a generally cylindrical injection molded plastic outer shell (251) which has a closed base and an open opposite end and which defines a hollow interior which receives a modular filter cartridge (252). The outer shell is injection molded with a generally cylindrical mounting stem (259) which is integral with the closed base and extends part way toward the open end of the outer shell. The filter cartridge includes a generally cylindrical filter element (263), a center tube (262), an upper end plate (264) bonded to one end of the filter element and a lower end plate (265) bonded to the opposite end of the filter element. The lower end plate having an extension stem (274) which is received by the mounting stem as a part of the positioning and mounting of the filter cartridge into the outer shell.</p> |
