PURPOSE:To efficiently rewrite data by storing data in advance in a set top and utilizing an outgoing channel when the updating of the data is required. CONSTITUTION:This system is made up of a host computer storing data and plural set tops 1 connecting to the host computer via a 2-way CATV network. Each set top 1 is provided with a large scale storage device 11, and control data are written in advance in the large scale storage device 11 and the host computer sends new control data resulting from updating control data to the set top 1 via the CATV network to rewrite the control data having been written in the large scale storage device 11 of the set top 1. The control data are sent to each set top 1 through a specific channel or using the carrier of a specific band and the set top 1 conducts specific signal processing by taking priority over other processing.
