Current is conducted, in direct contact with the strip, via a metal bath arranged in advance of the salt bath installation. The metal bath may be used for heating or cooling the strip to the reaction temp., and is pref. maintained at a temp. between 350 and 650 degrees C., while the temp. of the salt bath is between 300 and 650 degrees C. The salt melt consists pref. of a low-melting mixture of alkali-hydroxides and carbonates. |
