1313581 Brushes H JUNGHEINRICH & CO MASCHINENFABRIK 21 April 1970 [22 April 1969] 18990/70 Heading A4K [Also in Division E1] In a road-sweeping machine wherein a replaceable power-driven brush cylinder 63, Fig.1, sweeps rearwardly into a container 8 whose upper end communicates through filter elements 70 with the inlet duct of a suction blower 17, the brush cylinder comprises a series of straight or helically-curved bristle-carrying bars 32, Figs.3, 5, running the length of the cylinder and removably mounted in aligned recesses 27 distributed around the peripheries of axially spaced discs 25, 26 etc. on a central core 24, the recesses being undercut as shown or otherwise shaped to retain the bars. The bars, discs and core may be of plastics. The end disc 37 is angularly adjustable e.g. by bolts and slots 36, so that its peripheral recesses may be slightly misaligned with those of the other discs to clamp the bars 32 in position. A bent-over apertured tab 33 is provided at the base of each recess 29 so that each bristle-bar may be additionally secured by a single radial bolt. The brush core 24 is removably secured by a tie rod 53 between stub shafts carried by arms 49, 49a, fixed to the machine frame, the arm 49 being movable (arrow 51) to allow rearward removal of the brush. The brush 63 rotates in a chamber closed at top and front by a fixed curved wall 19 and at the lower rear end by a curved wall 21 at the bottom of the container 8. The container 8 is otherwise open at the front and is removably supported against wall 78 above aperture 20 by hooks 57, pivots 9 and catches 23. Rollers 16 on the machine frame engage curved side wall formations 62, Fig. 6 on the container so that it is lifted off the hooks 57 as it is pulled rearwardly. On removal of the container 8 (a) the wall 21 can swing on links 65 to allow emptying (b) the brush cylinder may be removed rearwardly, and (c) any of the row of filters 70 may be changed. The machine shown includes a gutter brush 7, front driven wheels 4, rear castor wheels 2 and a pedestrian steering bar 11. |
