<p>Broncholytic bis-alkanolamine derivs. prepn. Cpds. of formula (I): (where x is a whole number 2-12) and their salts are prepd. by reducing bis-alkanonamine derivs. of formula (II): (where R is H, acyl or a group which can be split off by hydrogenolysis) or their salts to bis-alkanols in aqs. medium in the presence of excess boron hydride complex without addition of alkali hydroxide or in the presence of less than the amount of alkali hydroxide required to liberate the base and/or satisfy the phenolic OH groups. Any R groups which are not H are then split off by hydrogenolysis or saponification and the product is opt. converted to a salt. Cpds. (I) are used in broncholytic compns.</p> |
