Natural or synthetic polyamide fibres are dyed by treating with a substantially neutral aqueous solution of -a dye of formula in which R is H or an alkyl group of 1-9 carbon atoms, polyamides specified are wool, nylon and silk red shades being obtained. Preferably the dyebath is maintained at 200- 210‹F at pH 6.5 - 7.5, when R is H or alkyl of less than 5 carbon atoms exhaustion of the dyebath is facilitated by the addition of acid when most of the dye is already exhausted. |
