PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of image quality setting and to save recording paper when the image quality of the output image in the digital copying machine is adjusted. CONSTITUTION:A scanner 103 reads the image of an original or the like and the image data are converted into an electric signal for each picture element by an A/D converter. The signal is stored in an image storage section 108 and a specific area (such as 1/5 in the sub-scanning direction) of the image stored in the image storage section 108 is repetitively read by an image processing section 105 and the density is changed on each occasion. The result of processing is fed to a recording section 106 and a synthesis image is printed out on one recording paper sheet by the recording section 106. Thus, partial images of plural density levels are synthesized and printed out on the recording paper and the evaluation is implemented easily and the paper is saved. |
