Novel di-esters of nicotinic acid and 4-methyl-, 4-ethyl-, 4-n-propyl, and 4-n-butyl-6,7-dihydroxycoumarin are prepared by reacting nicotinic acid, or a functional derivative thereof with the corresponding 4-alkyl-6,7-dihydroxycoumarin. Therapeutic compositions, useful in the treatment of arterial atheroma, arteritis of the lower limbs, disturbances of the lipid blood metabolism, and coronaritis, contain the above novel compounds as the active ingredient. The compositions can be administered in the form of tablets, coated tablets, cachets, capsules, emulsions or suppositories. |
