<p>Indane derivs. as odorants. The cpds. are: where one of R1 and R2 is O and the other is H2; Y is H or with X forms epoxide; one of the dotted bonds completes a double bond unless the epoxide is present; if the double bond is conjugated with R2 when the latter is O, X is H (musk and wood odour) where R6 is alkyl or acyl (balsam odour) 3a, 7a, epoxy-hexaxydro-1,1,2,3,3-pentamethylindone (pine wood odour) where the dotted bonds represent not more than two double bonds opt. conjugated (strong amber and wood odour with pine note) where R3 is is carbonyl, OH, acyloxy, or alkyloxy (musk and fruity odour). Used in cosmetics and detergents.</p> |
