1355662 Rolling mills DAVY-LOEWY Ltd 4 June 1971 [15 June 1970] 28830/70 Heading B3M Each housing 20 of a four-high rolling mill is provided, in fixed relation to the housing, with balancing rams 28 acting to urge a pair of work roll chocks 16 and 18 apart, with a ram 30A acting between one backing roll chock and the housing, and with an adjustable screw or wedge assembly 34 acting between the other backing roll chock and the housing. The pistons of the rams 28 are carried in inward extensions 24 of the housing, the extensions being integral with, or attached to, the housing. Additional rams 26 serve to balance the backing roll chocks. The screw or wedge assembly 34 adjusts the roll gap when under load; if a wedge assembly is used, packers are used to provide coarse gap adjustment. Wheels 44 and rails 46 are supplied for removing the work rolls from the mill. |
