The invention comprises isocyanates of the general formula OCN-R-O-CO-Cl, where R is an aliphatic, aromatic/aliphatic, or an aromatic hydrocarbon radical, 2-(41-isocyanatophenyl) - 2 - (411 - b - chloroformyloxyethoxyphenyl) - propane, and 2 - (21,41 - diisocyanato - 5 - methylphenyl) - 2 - (411 - chloroformyloxyphenyl) -propane, and a process for the preparation of isocyanates which contain at least one chloroformyloxy group and at least one isocyanato group by reacting a hydroxy primary amine with an excess of phosgene in the presence of a tertiary amine. The reaction may be effected in an inert organic solvent and it is preferred to use 2 molecules of tertiary amine per primary amino group and 1 molecule of tertiary amine per hydroxyl group. |
