Isoindoline dyes for synthetic fibres

Isoindoline derivatives are prepared by reacting isoindolines (I) having labile groups in the 1- and 3- positions with cpds (II) contg. two active H atoms linked to one C- or N-atoms. In a first stage, 1 mole (I) is reacted with up to 1 mol (II) at 10-100 deg.C. The pdt. is reacted with at least an equimolar amount of another cpd (II) at 80-220 deg.C. - The isoindoline derivatives such as (III) and (IV) are useful for dyeing/printing synthetic fibres in greenish yellow to red shades of excellent fastness. They are also useful as pigments for plastics.
