Metal sections are joined together by relative motion between a raised tongue on one piece that is forced into a groove in the other. The metal tongue has transverse triangular section ribs on both sides, the width across which is slightly greater than the width of the groove, which tapers slightly towards its bottom end. Another method is to use a separate tongue of metal to join together the two pieces which have matching grooves. The method can also be applied to round section pieces of metal by putting longitudinal ribs on the end.
|
