Electrolytic capacitor with low loss and long life - asymmetrical dielectric layer arrangement

The internal construction of the capacitor consists basically of two metal layer one of deposited aluminium or lead and the other of aluminium. These are separated by an array of different delectric materials, one of oil impregnated paper and the other of another substance such as polycarbonate, polypropylene or other similar material. This arrangement is made into a cylindrical structure which is held by plastic conical end-pieces in a can containing another dielectric. The manufacturing conditions of these elements are described at some length. The capacitance is suited to applications involving mains frequencies and up to about 100KHz.
