PURPOSE:To prepare polysaccharide with a film forming capcity suitable for foods, drugs, cosmetics or the like by cluturing microorganism belonging to Pseudomonas ganus for producing a specific constitutional sugar extracellulary. CONSTITUTION:The microorganism belonging to pseudomonas genus and being capable of producing polysaccharide containing allose as a constitutional sugar extracellulary, e.g.: Pseudomonas.viscogena (BIKOKEN KINKI No.3811), is cultured in a medium containing methanol as a carbon source at the concentration of below 5wt% under the condition of about 5-9pH and about 20-42 deg.C aerobically to accumulate polysaccharide containing allose as a constitutional sugar in the said medium. After the completion of the culture, cells are removed and a water soluble organic solvent is added to a top clear solution to obtain a white fibrous crude polysaccharides and thereafter this crude polysaccharides are washed by methanal and ether. Subsequently, the polysaccharides are dissolved in water and the heat treatment and the protein removing operation are carried out to remove precipitate, thereafter this clear solution is dialyzed to water and freeze dried. |
