<p>A cable junction box consists of a split cylinder and two caps with the cable seals, both made of a heat shrinking plastic. The cylinder slit ends overlap and are sealed by a fusible adhesive strip. Rings of the same strip near the cylinder ends seal the two caps. To complete the seal, mechanical clamps are applied and the strip zones are heated to the adhesive fusion temperature which is below the shrinking temperature. If the junction box has to be opened, these zones are heated enough to fuse the adhesive so that the junction box can be used many times, replacing only the adhesive. The cylinder can be made of perfluoroethylene propylene or of an elastomer such as ethylene-propylene-diene or flurorubber.</p> |
