PURPOSE:To obtain a secondary battery which is suitable for electric-power preservation by preventing any branch-like deposit, which might develop during charging, by preparing a negative active material from a molten metal. CONSTITUTION:A battery is actuated at 480 deg.C by using zinc as a negative active material 1, mixture consisting of zinc chloride and sodium chloride (weight ratio, 70 to 30) as an electrolyte 2, and chlorine as a positive active material. At this temperature, the negative active material 1 deposits in a molten state during charging, and any branch-like deposit doesn't develop in the electrode as is seen in ordinary temperature operation. Besides, no short circuits develop between the positive and the negative electrodes during the battery operation, and the function of the charge-and-discharge of the battery can be fully exhibited. |
