The invention relates to a braking device 1 which is attached to the parking brakes of vehicles. This device is characterised in that it essentially consists of a drive element 2 transmitting a variable mechanical tension to this braking system assembly, under the effect of a supply of energy, from an external source and a sensor 3 capable of detecting these variations in mechanical tension. The elements 2 and 3 interact directly, by way of a set 4 of transmission elements, with the friction linings 5 of the parking brakes. The sensor element 3 acts on the drive element 2, stopping the supply of energy from the drive element 2, when the mechanical tension of the braking system assembly has been reached so as directly to immobilise the vehicle, or if the said tension is practically zero, allowing the parking brakes to be released. The invention relates to vehicles. <IMAGE>
