PURPOSE:To industrially prepare a masking tape easy to use with good efficiency, by winding a double-coated adhesive tape and composite paper to form a two-layered structure and providing a bisecting line to the composite paper in the longitudinal direction thereof. CONSTITUTION:After composite paper is laminated to a double-coated adhesive tape 1 made of rubber having viscoelasticity, a cutting line 3 is provided only to the composite paper 2 and both of the tape 1 and the composite paper 2 are wound around a paper pipe 4 from one end thereof to obtain a wound masking tape having a two- layered structure consisting of the double-coated adhesive tape 1 and the composite paper 2 divided into the first composite paper piece 5 and the second composite paper piece 6 by the cutting line 3. In use, only the first composite paper piece 5 is peeled at first until returned to the original cut end and, at the return part, the end part of the adhesive tape 1 of the outermost layer and that of the second composite paper piece 6 left in a non-peeled state are matched with each other to cut both of them. Then, unwinding is performed in such a state that the second composite paper piece 6 is adhered to the second edge line 9 of the outer layer 7 of the adhesive tape and the first composite paper piece 5 is adhered to the first end edge line 10 of the inner layer 8 of the adhesive tape.
