PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of supplying and discharging particles by forming an outside diverter chamber into hermetic structure, supplying the particles from the inside of main plasma and discharging the particles from the outside diverter chamber. CONSTITUTION:The particles escaping from the main plasma 4 are carried to the diverter chamber 8 by mainly passing an outer scrape off layer 6 in the equil. coordination of the diverter. The particle density of the outer scrape off layer 6, therefore, increases and the particle density on the inner side decreases. Since the particles from the main plasma 4 accumulate in the outside diverter chamber 8, the diverter chamber 8 is made into the hermetic structure by shielding plates 3, by which the pressure is increased and the discharge efficiency of the particles is increased. Since the particle density of the inner scrape off layer 6 is low, the efficiency of supplying the particles to the main plasma can be increased by replenishing the articles from the inside. The efficiency of supplying and discharging the particles in accordance with a particle flow characteristic is greatly improved by using the inside of the main plasma as the particle supplying side and the outside as the particle discharging side in such a manner.
