PURPOSE:To attain a trunk line switching by adding a status bit as signalling information to the 9.6Kb/S digital signal of a GIII FAX. CONSTITUTION:An FS inserting and removing circuit 103 for adding or removing a frame bit or the status bit to the 9.6Kb/S FAX original signal is provided. The signalling information supplied in a telephone set 102 is added to the FAX original signal read in a FAX main body 101 as the status bit of the FS inserting and removing circuit 103 and the signal is delivered to a relay exchange circuit 104 by the bearer signal of 12.8Kb/S. In the relay exchange circuit 104, the status bit of the bearer signal of 12.8Kb/S received from a digital carrier 105 is read. Thereby, the desitna destination of data is discriminated, at the time of a place of its own, it is delivered to the FS inserting and removing circuit 103 and outputted to the FAX main body 101. At the time of a place different from the place of its own, it is outputted again to the digital carrier 105 and a similar operation is executed to a next destination.
