PURPOSE: To excellently keep uniformity even when a fluorescent lamp for illumination has a fault by alternately arranging plural U-shaped fluorescent lamps behind a liquid crystal display so as to be opposed to each other. CONSTITUTION: Plural U-shaped fluorescent lamps 14 are arranged behind a liquid crystal display 12 assembled in the instrument 10, and a reflector 16 is provided behind the lamps 14. The lamps 14 are provided to be opposed to each other so that the arm parts 18 of the lamps 14 may be alternately put in. In an example where two U-shaped fluorescent lamps 14 are combined and arranged, when one lamp B out of the lamps goes out because of some hindrance, a graph N showing the case two lamps are arranged becomes a graph Y, then a disadvantage that luminance distribution becomes extremely unbalanced as in the conventional manner and a part of the display screen of the instrument disappears completely because one fluorescent lamp is turned off is prevented. |
