PURPOSE:To simplify the constitution by communicating a video between video transmitter-receivers via a broad band channel and a voice between telephone sets via a telephone exchange. CONSTITUTION:A video signal is communicated between video transmitter- receivers 5a, 5b via a broad band area channel 1, and a voice signal is communicated between telephone sets 13a, 13b via a telephone exchange 12. Thus, the television telephone communication is executed. Thus, a subscriber line connected to the existing telephone set is branched and connected to the signal transmitter-receiver of a broad band exchange, the existing telephone exchange is used as the broad band area exchange voice route and the telephone set is used as the signal transmitter-receiver and the voice transmitter-receiver for the broad band exchange system. Thus, a function multiplexing/ demultiplexing each signal of speaker, microphone and key pad is not required in the terminal equipment and the subscriber line terminator such as speaker, microphone and key pad.
