PURPOSE:To provide the title glass composed of plural number of plate glass with hollow layers in-between so designed that at least one surface of the plate glass is laminated with a silicon alkoxide-based coating film layer, thereby improving the breaking strength and water repellency of the final glass. CONSTITUTION:A monomer component, i.e., a silicon alkoxide of the formula RnSi(OR')4-n (R and R' are each 1-4C alkyl, n is 0-3; R is epoxy or NH3) is incorporated with (A) 50-15,000ppm, based on said component, of a catalyst (e.g., hydrochloric acid), (B) 1-12wt.% of water as a curing agent, (C) a diluent (e.g., isopropyl alcohol), and, if needed, (D) inorganic filler (e.g., silica sol) followed by reaction to prepare a siloxane prepolymer solution with alkoxide accounting for >=80% of the terminal group. On the other hand, a curing agent component is prepared by mixing 30-200wt.% based on the solid in the final coating material, of water as a curing agent, and if needed, catalyst, filler, and solvent. Thence, said prepolymer solution is mixed with the curing agent component to form a coating material. At least one surface of plate glass constituting a multi-layered glass is then coated with the coating material followed by heating treatment at 100-200 deg.C to effect curing, thus producing coating film layer(s). |
