A fire barrier used with a glass pane and a metal frame has a circumferential receiving groove. The edge of the glass pane ends in front of the metal frame. Connected to the edge of the glass pane is a compensation adaptor which has two adaptor strips bonded to the edge region of the glass pane and engages into the receiving groove with projections of the adaptor strips.
