<p>The ball valve is opened or closed by the rotation of a ball (1) provided in a valve chamber (8). An orifice (9) is provided in the flow course (3) of the ball valve, and an interconnecting path (5) connects the upstream side of the orifice to the valve chamber. Another interconnecting path connects the downstream side to the valve chamber. The flow couse provided in the ball has a larger dia. at one end and a smaller dia. at the other end. The respective paths make the flow couse and the valve chamber communicate with each other when the valve is opened.
