The method of the invention comprises the modification of a management control of a standard inputs/outputs equipment of all the work stations being part of a same group, particularly the modification of addresses of the tracks of a disk reader (3). The device (1) for implementing said process is inserted between a controller (2) and a mass memory reader (3); its main elements are an address modification circuit (4) and a customizing "key" (5), and optionally a coder (6) and a corresponding decoder (7).
