PURPOSE: To provide a nickel positive electrode for a battery in which utilization and discharging rate of nickel hydroxide active material are further enhanced compared with the conventional technology, and its manufacturing process. CONSTITUTION: In a nickel positive electrode using nickel hydroxide particles as active material, the nickel hydroxide particles contain 0.1-5.0wt% calcium, at least part of the calcium exists on the surface and on the inside of the pores of the nickel hydroxide particle in the form of calcium hydroxide so as to cover and impregnate the nickel hydroxide particle, and the remaining calcium forms a composite compound with nickel as a solid solution to form the nickel positive electrode for a battery. The manufacturing process of the nickel positive electrode, that is, the nickel hydroxide particle is that instead of direct reaction of nickel salt and calcium salt, by after treatment of the nickel hydroxide particles prepared, calcium is contained in the nickel hydroxide particle as a solid solution, and at the same time, at least part of calcium contained exists in the form of calcium hydroxide on the surface and on the inside of the pores of the nickel hydroxide so as to cover and impregnate the nickel hydroxide particle. |
