PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance vibration-proof characteristic by improving a pawl part of a supply side reel shaft. SOLUTION: The device possesses a supply side reel shaft 43 to be engaged with a supply side reel 10 and a supply side reel motor 60 for imparting torque to the supply side reel shaft 43 in the direction of taking up a magnetic tape in order to impart a back tension to the magnetic tape. The supply side reel shaft has a cylindrical part 50 and a pawl parts 51. Each pawl part 51 is approximately right-angled triangular, having a surface 51a extending in the substantially tangential direction to the circumferential surface of the cylindrical part 50. Projection parts 12 of the supply side reel 10 are restrained by the surface 21a to give force effectively to the supply side reel 10 in the radial direction, so that supply side reel 10 is restrained with the supply side reel shaft 43 in the radial direction.
