A device for monitoring a mechanism (10) provided with a sucking coil, comprising means (118, 120) for measuring the power supply magnitude and voltage of the coil, a unit (124, 132) for digitising and recording the power supply magnitude and voltage values, a digital computer (134) for computing at least one descriptor characteristic of the operation of the actuator on the basis of digital data comprising the power supply magnitude and voltage values, and means (138) for displaying the descriptors. The device is useful for monitoring nuclear reactor fuel clusters.
