PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compensate for image quality by minimizing the blur of the rear end of a halftone image despite a change in the μ of a low-μ photoreceptor surface. SOLUTION: The halfte toner image having a specific pattern is formed onto the photoreceptor as necessary at a point in time (S2), its density is detected by a reflection density sensor (S3), and based on the detected value the length X of the blur of the rear end is calculated (S4). According to the length of the blur (S5), a process control value is set (S6). This compensates for the image quality so that the blur of the rear end of the halftone toner image is minimized despite a change in the photoreceptor surface with time. |
