PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deterioration of images by replacing the key pattern that is decided based on the decision result of attribute with a block pattern. SOLUTION: The multi-gradation image data are inputted and divided into blocks of (4×4) pixels, and plural types of key patterns are previously decided in number smaller than the largest number of patterns that is decided by the number of pixels. Then the key pattern that is decided by the attribute decision processing result 8 is defined as a block pattern 4. Thus, the pattern 4 is compressed into the key patterns of a smaller number than the resolution patterns 3 that is decided by the number of pixels of a pixel block. At the same time, the key pattern that is accordant with the attribute is decided as the pattern 4 and the deterioration of images is reduced. In such a way, the key patterns are switched for compression of the patterns 3 based on the result 8. |
