PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composite resin capable of attaining high light transmittance and light diffusibility with an inexpensive inorganic material as a light diffusing agent without requiring impartation of a multilayer structure to a sheet. SOLUTION: The light transmitting and light diffusing composite resin is obtained by uniformly dispersing a light diffusing agent in an acrylic resin and the light diffusing agent is amorphous particles of pulverized calcite. The calcium carbonate content of the calcite is >=99.3 wt.%, the average particle diameter of the calcite particles is 1.0-3.5μm and the weight proportion of the calcite particles contained in the composite resin is represented by (calcite particles)/[(calcite particles)+(resin base)]=0.025 to 0.035.
