PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for processing an image, which has the total throughput improved by performing output data processing and prepared processing of external resources at the same time. SOLUTION: Print data are inputted from a computer 120 and a main translator 301 analyzes the print data and performs output data processing. A subtranslator 302 analyzes the print data, obtains an external resource through a network when an external resource reference command is included, holds the obtained resource in a storage device 304, and manages it by a resource management table 303. Then when the main translator 301 requires the external resource, the resource managed by the resource management table 303 is used to perform the output data processing.
