PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital supervisory system that prevents data in excess of a transmission capability of a network from being transmitted and realizes video recording for a long time without deteriorating the image quality. SOLUTION: The digital supervisory system is configured with a detection means that detects an intruder or the like, a variable compression means that can revise a frame rate at compression of a digital video signal and a GOP(Group of Picture) configuration of the MPEG or the like, and a control means that controls the variable compression means and a resolution conversion means depending on a signal from the detection means.
